Ga. police still searching for answers 1 year later, man found dead in street after leaving Popeyes

Police in Georgia are asking for the public’s help in solving a year-old homicide.

According to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Tavares Sanders was found dead on a dirt road near exit #2 in Lake Park, Georgia.

Officers said Sanders was last seen leaving Popeyes restaurant on Bellville Road on April 18, 2022, around 10:00 p.m.

The next day, officers responded to Club Road after a call about suspicious activity.

Officers found Sanders dead on the side of the road and his car was found abandoned down the road.
