Gainesville man, 23, killed in crash Sunday evening on State Road 24, south of Waldo

A 23-year-old Gainesville man was killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 24, just north of Gainesville Regional Airport, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Sunday at about 6 p.m.

Where did the crash happen?

Northeast State Road 24 (Waldo Road), just south of its intersection with Northeast 55th Terrace.

What led to the crash?

According to the report, two pickup trucks were traveling in opposite directions on State Road 24 when, for unknown reasons, the truck being driven south by the Gainesville man crossed the center line and into the path of the northbound vehicle.

The driver of the other truck, a 43-year-old man from Cordova, Maryland, and his passengers — a 44-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child — all suffered minor injuries.
