The Galapagos Islands is a volcanic archipelago considered one of the world’s foremost destinations for wildlife viewing. Light will cover the history of the islands, rules for visiting the different islands, and the animals, plants, geology, and sea life. A province of Ecuador, the Galapagos lies about 620 miles off its coast in the Pacific Ocean.

Light has taught science outreach classes to local school students through ORNL and the American Museum of Science and Energy for 34 years, according to an arboretum news release. She loves to travel and share her experiences with others. She will discuss the pros and cons of the different tours that visit the islands. She will also discuss the animals and plants that are endemic to the islands and the threat of invasive non-natives found there.
