Galentine’s Day: Brunch spots in DC that help celebrate

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — While Valentine’s Day is known as the day of love, in 2010, a new holiday popped up that started a concurrent annual tradition of celebrating platonic love.

Galentine’s Day can be celebrated by anyone. It has evolved to elaborate parties and dinners hosted in the spirit of friendship.

Although people typically mark it the day before Valentine’s Day, there are a number of places that keep the Galentine’s Day celebration going after Feb. 13. Here are some of the brunch spots in the D.C. metro area that prolong the celebration:

Galentine’s Day Specials

1. Ciel Social Club’s Love Brunch

This event on Sunday, Feb. 18 on the Ciel Rooftop is sure to be quite the party. For friends who are looking to spend their Galentine’s Day weekend partying surrounded by live music- Ciel is the place to be. This 21+ event takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for brunch, but the party stretches into the day until 7 p.m.

2. Galentine’s Day Brunch and Paint at the Morrow Hotel

The Morrow Hotel is hosting a brunch and paint event on Saturday, February 17 featuring a stacked brunch buffet and a themed Galentine’s Day paint along. The purchase of the ticket also includes a complimentary mimosa: all you need to get the creative juices flowing.

1. The Duck and The Peach

Hollis Wells Silverman, a D.C. restauranteur, owns four establishments across the area. The Duck and The Peach, located in Capitol Hill, is home to a simple, yet well-planned brunch menu.
