Game 1 of Eastern League championship series in Erie moved to Saturday because of forecast

The Erie SeaWolves and Somerset Patriots will play Game 1 of the Eastern League championship series one day earlier than expected because of the weather forecast for Sunday.

Major League Baseball has approved a change in Game 1 to Saturday at UPMC Park at 6:05 p.m. It was originally scheduled for Sunday. Sunday's forecast from the National Weather Service in Cleveland calls for a 90% chance of rain with rainfall totals of three-quarters of an inch to more than an inch.

The rest of the series schedule is unaffected. Game 2 is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Tuesday and, if necessary, Game 3 will be at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, both at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, New Jersey. The forecast for Bridgewater this coming week is for sunny days and mostly clear night skies. If Game 1 had been canceled on Sunday, all three games would have taken place at Somerset including a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Game 1 tickets are available at seawolves.com or by calling the box office at (814) 456-1300.
