Game balls: Standouts from the Bills’ season finale

It was a disappointing end for the Buffalo Bills.

The team clawed their way back into a wild affair only to fall in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs, a 42-36 final. Even with the loss, we would be remiss without acknowledging two standout performers from Sunday’s contest.

Here are Bills Wire’s game balls from the AFC divisional round:

Josh Allen

Josh freakin’ Allen. The man is a beast, and it’s borderline unfair to defenders what Allen can do as a quarterback.

His arm strength and deep ball accuracy is off the charts. Allen’s ability to run over opponents gives the Bills quite the advantage on offense. It’s hard to think of what Buffalo would be without Allen at the helm.

Allen went 27-of-37 for 329 passing yards and four touchdowns. He added 68 rushing yards on 11 carries. Allen extended plays and make perfect throws all evening.

National media has taken note of what Allen can do as a signal caller. His physical abilities and leadership qualities carry Buffalo’s offense. Allen put the team on his back and put Buffalo in a prime position to win its first road playoff game in three decades.

Gabriel Davis

Davis decided that he would make his name known on the national stage. The second-year pro was Allen’s favorite target. The Chiefs could not handle Davis at all, as he produced a historic performance, catching four touchdowns, setting a postseason record.

All told, Davis caught eight passes for 201 receiving yards.

Beasley finished Sunday with six catches for 60 yards. We’ve seen bigger games from him, but Beasley was steady on a night where anyone not named Allen or Davis was close to invisible for the Bills at times.

Beasley had a 24-yard grab, but most of his other catches were key in getting Buffalo into positive-yard situations. Some were in the form of third-down grabs, while others setup shorter-to-go situations which makes things a lot easier on an offense.
