Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington opens up about rehab and ADHD diagnosis

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has spoken candidly about his stint in rehab and diagnosis of ADHD.
The star, who played Jon Snow in the fantasy show, revealed on the The Hidden 20% podcast that he was admitted to rehab for treatment of alcoholism back in 2019, with his stint leading to a diagnosis of ADHD.
“I realised that my life was hinging on this,” he said. “Luckily, it was the right place at the right time. I managed to forge a new life from there.

“I entered rehab drunk, sobered up in there, and went, ‘F**k this, not you guys in a circle. No, thank you.’ I left that pretty quick and said, ‘I’ll try to deal with this by myself,’ which didn’t work after about four years.”
The star continued by saying he was now “sober and present” as he raises his two children with wife and co-star Rose Leslie, though he noted that his “head wants to go to every other thing in the room at once” as a result of his ADHD.
The actor, who has also appeared in Eternals and Baby Ruby, recently recalled the moment he discovered his birth name, Christopher Catesby Harington, saying he didn’t reach that moment until he was at secondary school.

“I actually didn't know my name until I was 11 years old. I found out at school,” he said. “You know how you have to fill out those exam form things to find out how clever you are? Well, there was the space for my name.
“I put down Kit Harington, because that's what my parents had called me from day one, and the guy came up to me and said, 'No, your name's Christopher.' I was like, 'I think I know,' and they all went, 'No, no, no, it's Christopher!' And that's how I found out! I love the name now – it's certainly served me well.”
