Game of Thrones actor Maisie Williams has admitted that she felt "lost" during the show's successful years.

Williams played Arya Stark for the entirety of her teenage years, and while she says that being other people was, and is, "enthralling", she struggled to find a sense of self outside of acting.

"I was so lost for so long and I knew that I was, and when I couldn't pin down what I felt my identity was within that, it brought me a lot of discomfort," she told The Times.

"It's hard to even put myself back there and talk about how tough it was just because I think it's done."

She also spoke about her struggle to cope with rejection, which was tied in with her identity issues.

"It was at its absolute worst when I also was the most out of touch with myself — not knowing your identity and that kind of thing — I think rejection at that point felt so personal, so painful," she explained.

"I'd solely compare myself to other actresses, and the way people looked, and all of the most destructive ways that you can compare yourself."

In another recent interview, Williams said that she would "potentially" return to Doctor Who to play Ashildr again.

"I'd love to work with Ncuti [Gatwa], that would be so cool. I actually had never even [thought] about it," she said.

"People are always asking me about Arya – no one asks me about Ashildr. So maybe! I would love that, that would be cool."

Meanwhile, Williams' new show The New Look has started to stream on Apple TV+, and releases new episodes on Wednesdays.

The New Look is available now on Apple TV+. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
