'Game Of Thrones' Showrunners Back Out Of Comic-Con Panel, And Fans Have Jokes

The Game of Thrones show runners will not be attending due to "production and scheduling conflicts."

A Divisive Final Season

Game of Thrones may be one of the biggest shows of all time and have one of the most rabid fanbases, but many were unsatisfied with how the series ended. The final season was so poorly received that many fans even began a (childish) petition to remake season 8.

Emmy Recognition

Even so, the HBO epic still managed to score a record 32 Emmy nominations for the final season, so I guess the creators get the last laugh.

Dropping Out Of Comic Con

That being said, fans are a little suspicious that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the creators and main writers of Game of Thrones, dropped out of the panel at San Diego Comic Con, citing "production and scheduling conflicts." Actors Nathalie Emmanuel and Iain Glen also pulled out of appearing.

Plenty Of Jokes On Twitter

While they may have a scheduling excuse, people on Twitter were less than convinced. Jokes were flying that D&D weren't ready to face the angry mob of fans.

Not Facing The Music

It's hard to be surprised at this point. Would you want to have to justify your almost universally reviled project to the clamoring masses in Hall H?

At Least We Have Memes

Once again, at least we still have the memes. Think back to happier days, like Game of Thrones season 3.
