Game of Thrones star Lena Headey's new show, Beacon 23, has been saved from cancellation after its original production company shut down.
The sci-fi thriller was originally broadcast on Spectrum Originals, and was renewed for a second season in August 2022, before its first had even aired – but its fate became unclear after Spectrum shut down.
Now, cable and satellite network MGM+ – formerly known as Epix – has picked up and revived the show, setting a global release date of Sunday November 12, complete with a two-episode premiere.
The series also stars Stephan James (21 Bridges, If Beale Street Could Talk).

The eight-episode psychological drama is based on Hugh Howey’s book of the same name, and follows government agent Aster Calyx (Headey) and ex-military man Halan Kai Nelson (James).
The pair venture to the furthest reaches of the Milky Way galaxy and find their fates intertwined as they become trapped aboard an AI-driven lighthouse (or beacon).
Tensions heighten when Calyx and Nelson question whether the other is friend or foe – and James' keeper reckons that Aster's ability to disguise her agenda could make her a formidable opponent.

Michael Wright, head of MGM+, called the series "essential viewing for fans of premium science-fiction drama."
"Beacon 23 is a series in the best tradition of thought-provoking genre storytelling," praising the show's "incredible vision of Zak Penn and Glen Mazzara, riveting performances by Lena Headey and Stephan James, and an exciting world-building design."
“We’re delighted to bring Beacon 23 to MGM+ and introduce viewers to a world in the dark recesses of space where nothing is quite what it seems,” said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, co-executive chairmen of Boat Rocker Media and co-chairmen of Boat Rocker Studios.
Beacon 23 will air on MGM+ on November 12.
