Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau isn't watching House of the Dragon

Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has revealed why he hasn't watched spin-off series House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon, released last year, is set around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and focuses on the notorious Targaryen family.
The popular show boasted an all-star cast, featuring the likes of Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, and Ewan Mitchell.

Despite breaking viewer records, Coster-Waldau has said he hasn't tuned in to House of the Dragon since it began.
The actor, who played Jaime Lannister in the original show, revealed he had made an attempt to start watching the prequel, but was "confused" by the opening credits that had a striking resemblance to those used in Game of Thrones.
"I sat down one day and I watched the title sequence and then I was confused because the music of course is the same, the theme music, and then the title sequence was very similar," he told The Wrap, "and I was like, 'Oh, this seems too familiar'."

However, Coster-Waldau said he was happy the prequel series had become so popular.
"I’m just gonna give them a couple of years to a couple of seasons and then I’ll binge-watch the whole thing," he continued. "But I’m so happy that it’s a success and that people love the show. And I will watch it eventually."

House of the Dragon was the first spin-off series linked to Game of Thrones and was quickly renewed for a second series, with filming now underway.
Shooting for the latest season was set to kick off last month in the UK and in Spain, according to a listing from the Film & Television Industry Alliance's Production List.
HBO boss Casey Bloys has also given fans a hint as to when they can expect new episodes to drop, telling Variety that 2024 “is a good guess” for its return.
Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
