GameCenter final: Quinnipiac 6, UND 2

Oct. 15—GRAND FORKS — Quinnipiac scored three goals in the second and two in the third to pull away and beat UND in the series finale of their top-10 battle in Ralph Engelstad Arena.

First star: Ethan de Jong, QU, 2 goals.

Second star: Sam Lipkin, QU, 2 assists.

Third period: T.J. Friedmann, QU, 1 goal.

Quinnipiac 1, UND 0 — Skyler Brind'Amour (Sam Lipkin) 1:49. Lipkin has the puck behind the net, looking to make a pass. Hellsten looks over his left shoulder to see what's happening, but Lipkin sends a pass to the other side of the net, where Brind'Amour is open and snaps it past an unsuspecting Hellsten's head.

Quinnipiac 1, UND 1 — Jackson Blake (Louis Jamernik V, Brent Johnson) 4:17. UND quickly answers the Quinnipiac goal. Johnson fires a point shot through a ton of traffic and a goal-mouth scramble ensues. Blake finds the puck and puts it away for his second goal and third point of the weekend.

UND 2, Quinnipiac 1 — Riese Gaber (Jackson Blake, Chris Jandric) 18:14 (pp). UND's top power-play unit starts the advantage, but has players in different spots than usual. Blake gets the puck in the right circle and gives it to Gaber between the dots. Gaber snaps a shot through a Gavin Hain screen for his second goal and third point of the weekend.

UND 2, Quinnipiac 2 — T.J. Friedmann (Jayden Lee, Jacob Quillan) 11:08. Hellsten moves the puck behind the net but can't connect with his defenseman and Quinnipiac regains possession. Lee sends a point shot toward the slot and Friedmann tips it past Hellsten.

Quinnipiac 3, UND 2 — Desi Burgart (Michael Lombardi, Collin Graf) 11:27. Quinnipiac adds a second goal in 19 seconds on a quick transition play. Lombardi sends a pass by a diving Chris Jandric to Burgart, who is in alone with Hellsten. Burgart makes a move to his backhand and puts it away to give Quinnipiac the lead.

Quinnipiac 4, UND 2 — Ethan de Jong (Cristophe Tellier, Collin Graf) 15:09 (pp). Quinnipiac tacks on another goal with excellent puck movement on the power play. Graf sends it from the left circle to Tellier in the right circle. Tellier spots de Jong on top of the crease and threads a pass between two UND defenders and de Jong has a tap in.

Quinnipiac 5, UND 2 — Ethan de Jong (Zach Metsa, Sam Lipkin) 7:57. Quinnipiac puts this one away when Metsa launches a point shot into the slot area, where de Jong tips it five-hole on Hellsten.

Quinnipiac 6, UND 2 — Iivari Rasanen 16:27 (en). UND pulls the goaltender for an extra attacker and Quinnipiac finishes it off with an empty-netter from the defensive zone.
