GameCenter final: UND 3, Omaha 3, tie

Nov. 5—OMAHA, Neb. — Judd Caulfield, Tyler Kleven and Riese Gaber scored goals for UND as the Fighting Hawks tied Omaha 3-3 in the series finale. The Mavericks got the extra point in the NCHC standings with a shootout win.

First star: Jake Kucharski, Omaha, 40 saves.

Second star: Riese Gaber, UND, game-tying goal.

Third star: Tyler Kleven, UND, power-play goal.

No scoring.

Omaha 1, UND 0 — Jacob Slipec (Victor Mancini, Ray Fust) 2:58. Mancini gets the puck at the point, skates it down to the left circle and spots Slipec open in the slot. Mancini slides the pass over and Slipec, who was scratched Friday, buries it for Omaha's first lead of the weekend.

Omaha 1, UND 1 — Judd Caulfield (Dylan James) 18:22. Griffin Ness makes a big hit on Omaha's Victor Mancini to separate the puck and start a rush the other way. James picks up the puck and uses his speed to separate from the defenseman and create a passing lane to the top of the crease, where Caulfield is driving. The Grand Forks native puts it away for his first goal and point of the season.

UND 2, Omaha 2 — Ty Mueller (Nolan Krenzen, Kirby Proctor) 9:24. The Mavericks come back and tie it up just 84 seconds later. UND ices the puck with tired legs and uses its timeout. It doesn't matter. Omaha immediately gets possession and Krenzen launches a point shot wide. It takes a long rebound off the end wall to Mueller, who puts it away.
