GameCenter final: Western Michigan 4, UND 0
Jan. 13—GRAND FORKS — Cameron Rowe posted a 25-save shutout, while Jason Polin scored his NCAA-leading 20th and 21st goals of the season to give the Broncos a 4-0 victory in the series opener in Ralph Engelstad Arena.
First star: Cameron Rowe, WMU, 25-save shutout.
Second star: Jason Polin, WMU, 2 goals, 1 assist.
Third star: Zak Galambos, WMU, 2 assists.
WMU 1, UND 0 — Jack Perbix (Zak Galambos, Dylan Wendt) 7:46. The Broncos get on the board first as Galambos, a defenseman, takes the puck behind the net, circles, and feeds Perbix, who is crashing on the other side. The senior puts it home for his fourth goal of the season.
WMU 2, UND 0 — Cedric Fiedler (Jason Polin, Zak Galambos) 15:20 (dp). A key sequence occurs as UND's Mark Senden beats a Broncos defender wide, takes it to the net, but is turned aside by Broncos goalie Cameron Rowe. Western Michigan goes the other way and scores when Polin hits Fiedler with a drop pass and Fiedler snipes it on Jakob Hellsten. Senden also is called for slashing on the play.
WMU 3, UND 0 — Jason Polin (Ryan McAllister, Max Sasson) 2:37 (pp). Western Michigan takes advantage of a major penalty on Tyler Kleven, scoring off the rush. McAllister flies up the left side and feeds Polin cutting down the back side. Polin's shot squeezes five-hole on Hellsten for his NCAA-leading 20th of the season.
Western Michigan 4, UND 0 — Jason Polin (Max Sasson, Carter Berger) 19:10 (en). Sasson sets up Polin for No. 21. It goes into the empty net to seal the Broncos victory.

The goaltending carousel continues for UND as Jakob Hellsten goes back in the net. . . Ethan Frisch is, indeed, in the lineup for UND. Fighting Hawks coach Brad Berry said earlier in the week he was hopeful Frisch would be able to play after sustaining an injury at the end of Saturday night's victory over Lindenwood. . . Ben Strinden, who has played his best games at center this season, will be in the middle on the fourth line. . . Western Michigan will warm up with 20 skaters, which normal for the Broncos.
