New garden in Manchester, N.H. honors victim advocate killed in 2021 crash, police say

Members of the law enforcement community came together on Saturday to dedicate the Brigit Feeney Garden at Livingston Park in Manchester, paying tribute to a victim advocate who died in a motorcycle crash nearly two years ago.

Feeney, 33, was killed in a motorcycle crash on Wellington Road in Manchester on June 20, 2021. Thembalethu Dhilwayo, 31, was also killed in the crash.

“Brigit was a Victim Advocate for the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and fought hard to ensure victims and their families had a voice for justice,” Nashua Police said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

“Her life was cut short two years ago. Her foundation benefits victim/witness advocates throughout the state. She was a wonderful colleague, and is greatly missed,” Nashua Police said.

The Brigit A. Feeney Foundation for Hope and Healing provides resources and support for trained victim advocates, according to its website.

Feeney attended Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, where she played Division II volleyball and received a bachelor’s degree in social work and counseling, according to her obituary.

“Brigit spent her life supporting victims of domestic and sexual abuse and families of homicide victims, working many years as a victim and witness advocate for the state Department of Justice,” her obituary states. “She was cherished by colleagues and victims’ families alike for the unwavering compassion and dedication she showed to all she served. She will be remembered as a pillar of strength, and an unyielding force in the fight for good.”

At the time of her death, Feeney was starting a project to help the homeless in downtown Manchester, according to her obituary.
