GARDENING CALENDAR: Plant swap Saturday
HOLLIS GARDEN COMMUNITY PLANT SWAP 2022: 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 17, gates open at 8:30 a.m. - first round of swapping begins at 9 a.m., Hollis Garden, 702 E. Orange St., Lakeland. Organized by Lakeland Plant Swappers. Plants and gardening items are placed in a designated location between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Depending on arrival time, attendees are divided into groups, and each group will be announced and have a specified amount of time to peruse the available plants. What to bring for the swap: garden-related items like plants, seeds, tools, and/or books. Label those plants and seeds. Do not bring chemicals or invasive plants. Types of plants that might be found to swap: orchids, bromeliads, tropical plants, aroids, grasses, flowering trees, native plants, succulents, butterfly and hummingbird attractants, herbs, fruit trees. A few vendors on site will have a limited supply of plants for sale.
