New at The Gardens Mall: Nike store brings 'digital-forward' approach to sneaker sales

PALM BEACH GARDENS — The holiday shopping season has brought three new apparel stores to The Gardens Mall, the two-story, high-end shopping mall along PGA Boulevard east of Interstate 95 in Palm Beach Gardens.

One is a retail destination for one of America's most iconic clothing brands since the 1980s. The second is the northernmost outpost of a store that has built a following in the Florida Keys and the Fort Lauderdale area. The third is a athletic-apparel maker's first store anywhere in Florida.

Here’s a look at the latest offerings by the largest retail center in northern Palm Beach County.

Nike

Nike brought the new concept of its sportswear store to the mall on Nov. 9 on the lower level near Bloomingdale’s, across from the Apple Store.

The first of the new concept version of the store — called Nike Rise at some locations — opened in July 2020 in China, moving next to Seoul, South Korea, and then London before opening a first U.S. location in Aventura.

The digital-forward concept offers digital returns, curbside pickup and buy online, pick up in store options.

The technology allows Nike to personalize each shopping experience with the introduction of Sport Pulse, “a digital storytelling platform that integrates sports and athlete data throughout the shopping experience,” the mall said.

Southern Tide

Southern Tide has opened a store at The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens. It is the retailer's eleventh store in Florida.

Southern Tide, a clothing brand with with 20 stores and products available in 836 store locations nationwide, opened at the mall’s lower level near Nordstrom in early October.

Its apparel is geared toward boaters and the everyday beachgoer, with a preppy, Southern-style twist. Its holiday collection features flannel patterns and pastel colors, among other designs, some including the Southern Tide logo of a fish.

It is the only Southern Tide store in Palm Beach County. The brand has three other South Florida stores in Fort Lauderdale, Islamorada and Key West.

Vuori

Vuori opened its first Florida location at The Gardens Mall on Nov. 3.

This men’s and women’s athletic apparel retailer opened on the lower level near Bloomingdale’s, near Aerie and Warby Parker.

Founded in 2013 in California, the brand has become popular with celebrities who tout Vuori’s comfort and durability as well as the company’s sustainable practices.
