Gardner man ID'd as victim in fatal crash

GARDNER – A Gardner man was identified as the victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, Nov. 17, on Route 140.

According to the Worcester County District Attorney’s office, 26-year-old Nicholas Pike was killed when his vehicle was involved in a head-on crash near Green Street around 2:30 p.m. Officials said Pike was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was transported via LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles by members of the Gardner Fire Department, according to officials.The cause of the crash remained under investigation by the Gardner Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police CARS Unit.
