  • TMZ reported that the incident happened in Franklin County, Tennessee.

  • Hedlund was released on bond and is due back in court this March, a Franklin County jail rep told TMZ.

Actor Garrett Hedlund was arrested on charges of public intoxication on Saturday evening in Franklin County, Tennessee, TMZ reported.

TMZ reported that Hedlund, 37, was placed in custody following the incident. Representatives for the Franklin County jail later told TMZ that the "Friday Night Lights" actor had been released on a $2,100 bond and is due back in court in March.

Representatives for Hedlund and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

TMZ's report comes after the "Tron" actor's reported split from actress Emma Roberts. According to a January 21 report from People, the couple split a few weeks ago after nearly three years together. The couple was first romantically linked in May 2019, then announced they were expecting a child in August 2020. Their son Rhodes was born in December of that year.

Hedlund's reported arrest on public-intoxication charges follows a separate legal dispute involving the actor.

On Friday, People reported that a mother and daughter are suing Hedlund for negligence after he collided with their car while driving under the influence in January 2020. According to People, the mom and daughter claim they were "severely" injured as a result of the "horrible head-on crash," and say there were two minors in the car with them.

Hedlund's blood alcohol level tested at .36 percent — four times the legal limit — at the time, People reported.

The actor was arrested on charges of two counts of DUI following the incident and released on bail with a court date set for February 2020, according to court documents obtained by People. The actor pleaded no contest and was found guilty on one count, while the second DUI charge was dismissed, the outlet reported.

Following the crash, Hedlund completed a 30-day residential treatment program and a first offender alcohol and drug counseling program that lasted nine months, People reported.

The mother and daughter are seeking punitive damages and a jury trial, according to People.
