Garrison Keillor and some 'Prairie Home' cohorts plan July 4 weekend shows

Jun. 4—Garrison Keillor and some of his old friends from days when he hosted "A Prairie Home Companion" public radio show will celebrate the July 4 weekend with shows in Stillwater and St. Michael in Minnesota and in Bayfield, Wis. He'll share stories and poems and sing classic duets with Prudence Johnson, accompanied by pianist Dan Chouinard, guitarist Adam Granger, and mandolinist Bob Douglas.

The events begin in Stillwater at 5:30 p.m. June 30, with dinner and a St. Croix River cruise aboard The Avalon paddlewheel boat. ($133; St. Croix Boat & Packet Co., 525 Main St. S., Stillwater.)

On Friday, July 2, the performances move to a 7:30 p.m. show at The Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua, a 1,900-seat theater located near Bayfield. (Reserved tickets; $60, $52, $42: 32525 Ski Hill road, Bayfield.)

On July 4, the 4 p.m. show will be in the Summerfield Amphitheater in St. Michael, a new outdoor venue about 40 miles northwest of the Twin Cities, located between St. Cloud and Minneapolis. ($42-$15: 4300 O'Day Ave. NE, St. Michael.
