Good morning! College football stadiums won’t be filled up for several more months, but concert tours coming to town can bring out the crowds as well.

Garth Brooks has hit some college campuses during his tour this spring.

The country music star played sold-out shows at Arkansas, LSU and last Saturday at Notre Dame. He has dates at Utah on June 17-18 and is playing NFL stadiums.

Before his concert in South Bend, Brooks told reporters about how his wife, country star Trisha Yearwood, soaking up Georgia’s national title win over Alabama on Jan. 10.

“My wife wears a sweatshirt that says, ‘Classy Until Kickoff,'” Brooks said. “When the Dawgs won the national championship, especially with who they were playing, in our house it was kind of loud.”

Yearwood was born in Monticello and studied for a time at UGA, according to Georgiaencyclopedia.org. before transferring to Belmont University in Nashville where she graduated.

Brooks and Yearwood attended the Georgia-South Carolina game last September.

They haven’t played Sanford Stadium themselves.

Actually, the only concert held there (not including Ludacris’ infamous show before the 2016 G-Day game) was Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan on April 16, 2013.

Since it doesn’t look like another will be held this year—it is already mid-May this weekend—it will be 10 years between shows if one is held in 2023.

"I'd love to do that again in Sanford Stadium because it's just great for the town, it's great for the school,” Josh Brooks, Georgia’s athletic director, said in December of 2019 when he was named interim AD before being named to replace Greg McGarity a month later. “I think it went really well, so I definitely will always keep that on the list of things."

So who should be next? R.E.M. doesn’t look like it’s coming out of retirement. The B-52s farewell tour is hitting the Fox Theater in Atlanta in November.

Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and Justin Bieber are touring in 2023, according to concertful.com. So are Kane Brown and Shawn Mendes.

Brooks may need to invite several artists for a Sanford show. How about Jason Isbell, Peal Jam and sure, Brooks and Yearwood?
