Gary Barlow spent the entire rehearsal period of Take That's Odyssey Live tour in 2019 with closed eyes, it's been revealed.

Kicking off at Sheffield's FlyDSA Arena and wrapping up at Gibraltar's Victoria Stadium five months later, this stretch of European shows saw the band members (including Mark Owen and Howard Donald) performing on a raised platform in front of adoring crowds.

Speaking to Metro, though, Barlow admitted he's "never been a fan of heights" and these soaring theatrics weren't ideal for his disposition.

"He didn't even open his eyes all of rehearsals until the opening night," claimed Owen, with the musician going on to add: "That's true. It was the opening night when I first opened my eyes [on stage]. And then I learned to just keep looking forwards.

"You can see it in the [Odyssey: Greatest Hits Live] film. I just kept telling myself, 'Don't look down.'"

Further along, the 'Rule the World' singer also recalled the uncomfortable experience of reuniting with the lads - Jason Orange included - in 2006 after a nine-year break.

"We did this press conference and photoshoot – and I didn't like it because we looked like four guys who were scared to death of what was to come. And that's because we were! We look like we were thinking, 'What the hell is going on?'" Barlow said.

"I remember getting to the end of that day and thinking, 'This is so scary'. We had no clue whether everyone was going to laugh at us – I look back at those pictures and think 'oof'."

Ex-member Robbie Williams rejoined Take That for one album in 2010, Progress, before resuming his solo career.
