Gary Barlow's theatrical adaptation of the classic film Calendar Girls will be on stages across the country this autumn.

The touring version of Calendar Girls The Musical UK will be on the road from October to November, with the creative team and the cast set to be announced in due course.

Take That member Barlow and Tim Firth — his collaborator on the Take That musical The Band and its film adaptation Greatest Days — have created original music for the inspiring musical.

The original film, which starred Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Julie Walters, was itself based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire women who created a nude calendar in order to fundraise for Blood Cancer UK following one of their husbands dying of cancer.

Following a run in the West End back in 2017, Calendar Girls The Musical is being reworked for this tour by legendary producer Bill Kenwright — a veteran of Evita, Cabaret and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, among many others.

Barlow also has a musical on the big screen this summer, with the long-awaited Take That musical Greatest Days having hit screens earlier in June.

The film features a stellar cast including Taskmaster's Aisling Bea, Black Mirror actress Alice Lowe, The Responder's Amaka Okafor and Strictly Come Dancing's Jayde Adams as Take That super-fans who reunite for the musical adventure of a lifetime.
