Gary Bauer honored at 4-H camp

Jun. 16—NORWALK — 4-H Camp is wrapping up Friday at Camp Conger.

And all of the youngsters who attended camp this year in southern Huron County had a chance to see and sit on a new bench in front of the main building in honor of Gary Bauer.

Bauer, who died earlier this year, spent more than half a century as part of the 4-H program in Huron County.

"The bench was given in memory/honor of dad for his 50 years of service to the 4-H program by past and current members of the Ridgefield Country Kids 4-H Club," said Scott Bauer, Gary's son. "Many of our current club members are second generation members and several who donated were second generation members who are now adults. It was decided that the bench would be placed at camp because of his unwavering commitment to make the camp a great place for Huron County 4-Hers."

The intermediate camp for members in grades 6 to 8 was held June 7 to 10. Junior camp for members in grades 3 to 5 was held Monday through Thursday this week. Cloverbud Fun Day for members in kindergarten through second grade was held Friday.
