Gas prices in Cobb continue to decline, but remain higher than state average

Jul. 18—For another week straight, gas prices in Georgia have declined, according to data from AAA. As of Monday, July 18, the Georgia average is $4.04 per gallon and the Cobb average is $4.22 per gallon.

The state average is down 14 cents from a week ago and 45 cents from a month ago, but gas is still $1.07 more than this time last year, according to AAA.

Average national prices are also down to $4.53 per gallon.

According to a AAA news release, lower gas prices are due to decreasing demand for gas and declining oil prices. Last week, demand for gas dropped from 9.41 millions barrels a day to 8.06 million barrels a day, according to the Energy Information Administration, and reduced economic activity could continue to lower gas prices.

"As these supply/demand dynamics hold, drivers will likely continue to see relief at the pump," said AAA spokesperson Montrae Waiters.
