As travelers head out to the beach or grandma's, expect to pay more at the pump.
- As the Memorial Day travel rush does begin, though, people are seeing those high gas prices, actually the highest in seven years to be exact. It is not only because of a surge in demand here, but also shortages because of a key pipeline shutdown earlier this month and the lack of tank truck drivers. According to AAA, the National average for a gallon of regular gas $3.04, and here in Maryland, we're just below $3.02. That is down $0.02 from one week ago, but up a $1 from this time last year.
