It is summertime, which means travel is in full swing.

Rocky Point Adventure is a family-owned and operated floating obstacle course and children's aqua park located just an hour and a half away from Shreveport in Lone Star, Texas.

Rocky Point Adventure is known for three reason; the adventure park, the sandy beaches and the beach bar.

Rocky Point Adventure is a quick drive from Shreveport but if you want to make a weekend out of it you can always travel 30 minutes southeast to Jefferson, Texas.

Shreveport fire chief sworn in Monday afternoon

Shreveport Fire Chief Clarence Reese was sworn into the position Monday afternoon in an intimate gathering at Morning Star Baptist Church.

Reese said he only plans to serve with the fire department for approximately five more years before retiring so that he can spend more time with family, particularly his infant son.

Reese was sworn in by Judge Carl E. Stewart of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, while he was pinned by his wife.

The former Rubenstein Department Store located in the 500 block of Milam Street is getting a new look thanks to Leeson Real Estate Investment Firm.

Shreveport officials introduced the new plans for this historic building.

"Today is a big day for us," said Adrian Perkins, Mayor of Shreveport. "Many of our buildings downtown stood vacant for so long, way too many years. We cannot have that kind of lightning downtown."

These two buildings will be renovated and converted into 36 Class A market rate units; 12 will be short-term rentals.
