Gas station employee charged with abduction and gross sexual imposition

LANCASTER − A Lancaster resident has been charged with gross sexual imposition and abduction after a juvenile reported a sexual assault.

Officers with the Lancaster Police Department responded to a report of a suspected sexual assault involving a juvenile at the Sunoco, located at 602 E Main Street, at approximately 9 p.m. May 20. Detectives also responded to further the investigation.

Sushil Kumar, the 33-year-old suspect, was arrested and charged with gross sexual imposition and abduction. His bond was set as $150,000 cash, surety, or ten percent plus $5,000 recognizance. He is currently being held in the Fairfield County jail.

This arrest was made in response to an incident in which a juvenile went to the Sunoco gas station. The victim asked the suspect where the bathroom was, before the suspect followed him into the bathroom, and began to touch him inappropriately in several spots. The victim was only allowed by Kumar to leave if he promised to return to continue later on, according to the police report.

After he returned home, the juvenile victim told his mother about what happened and they called the police.

The victim identified the suspect to the police officer and Kumar was arrested.

The two-count complaint against Kumar includes one third-degree felony count of abduction and one fourth-degree felony of gross sexual imposition.
