Gaslight Anthem gives fans a 'Positive Charge' with first new music in 9 years

The Gaslight Anthem have sparked up their fans.
The New Brunswick rockers just dropped their first new material in nine years, the single “Positive Charge,” and fans are expressing a very positive reaction on social media.
“Went to bed as a standard 32-year-old guy, woke up as a 16-year-old with wide eyes and the blues,” said a fan on Instagram. “I love you Gaslight.”
“The new song might be the strongest piece of writing, and most uplifting song you guys have ever written,” said another on IG. “I'm exactly in that place right now staring down a positive path, it's like you're inside my mind … great stuff!!”
“Like hearing an old friend,” said a fan on YouTube. “It feels so good!”
The track explodes with a driving 4/4 rhythm powered by drummer Benny Horowitz and bassist Alex Levine. A screaming guitar lead by Alex Rosamilia adds to the intensity. Frontman Brian Fallon sings of rejuvenation: “How I've missed you, how I've missed you and it's good to be alive.”
The optimistic track was produced and mixed by Grammy Award winner Peter Katis at his Tarquin Studios in Connecticut. It's the Gaslight Anthem's first new music since the 2014 album "Get Hurt."
Getting a Positive Charge
“ ‘Positive Charge’ began as a message of joy to ourselves and to our audience,” said Fallon in a statement. “The central theme is about looking at the things you’ve come through and feeling like you want to go ahead with an open heart toward the future, believing that the best years are not behind any of us and the good we have is worth something.”

The single comes forth on the band's new Mahogany Recordings label, distributed via Thirty Tigers. The band announced they were returning to full-time status in March 2022 after an extended hiatus.
Gaslight Anthem tour
Upcoming Jersey shows include May 19 at Sound Waves at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, and July 8 opening for the Original Misfits at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Fallon plays a solo show June 14 at the Stone Pony as part of the North 2 Shore festival.
