Gastonia has a new breakfast restaurant open

Eggs Up Grill opened for business this week in Gastonia.

The South Carolina-based chain opened up Monday, Jan. 17 at 2609 S. New Hope Road, within the Food Lion shopping center at the corner of Redbud Drive and South New Hope Road.

The 4,000-square-foot space had been home to the former Round Bistro, which closed in 2018.

Eggs Up Grill in Gastonia will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., seven days a week. The restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch items.

This is the first Eggs Up Grill for Gaston County and for Keith Moore and his wife Soumitra. For what it's worth, Keith Moore, was eating breakfast at the restaurant on Tuesday morning.

“What attracted my wife and I to Eggs Up Grill is how family-oriented it is. It’s a place family can gather and enjoy breakfast classics,” Moore said in a statement released by the company. “The breakfast and lunch concept, as well as its hours of operation, are very compelling. Also, the brand is all about the community and that’s important to us.”

Menu items at Eggs Up Grill include eggs, hash browns, grits, pancakes, waffles, French toast, sandwiches, burgers, wraps and salads. Eggs Up Grill also serves regular coffee and specialty coffee drinks, as well as mimosas.

The restaurant has enough space to seat 116 people. The restaurant also has a "community room," set apart from the regular dining room, plus an outdoor patio for dining for up to 24 people.

The dining room has both tables, a bar area and booths.

Moore has worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years, serving in various leadership roles with IHOP. Moore managed 22 IHOP restaurants along the East Coast in some form or another — including IHOP on Cox Road, which the franchisee closed in April 2020. A new franchisee now operates the Gastonia IHOP.

The Moores have been interested in opening a new restaurant in Gastonia and believe there is great potential for the future.

“The values of Eggs Up Grill along with our return to doing business in Gastonia in this ideal location makes this a great opportunity,” said Moore.

The Moores have lived in Gastonia for 10 years, although they are moving back to town from Spartanburg, South Carolina

The Gastonia restaurant will employ a total of 28 people and is actively hiring. Those interested can apply at eggsupgrill.com or visit the restaurant and ask for the manager on duty.

Eggs Up Grill has 54 locations across Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia. The chain plans to reach the 100-restaurant mark by 2023.
