Gateway High School placed on modified lockdown after tip about a threat on Friday
Gateway High School was placed on a modified lockdown after the school district received an anonymous tip about a threat on Friday.
In a letter to parents, the district said Monroeville police officers were called to the school and had an increased presence throughout the rest of the day.
The high school was put in modified lockdown, meaning classes were able to continue inside the building. After-school activities were canceled. Only people with appointments were able to enter or exit the school.
The lockdown came just days after several local schools were “swatted” with fake 911 calls reporting school shooters that were not actually at the campuses.

The incident at Gateway School District does not appear to be related to the swatting situations. The tip was sent over the administration’s “Safe 2 Say” tip line. The threats on Wednesday were made to 911 dispatchers directly.
