Salata Salad Kitchen, a Houston-based franchise popular for built-to-order salads and wraps, has listed Lubbock as a market it was interested in. While they are seeking a franchisee, they already have big plans to use the Hub City as "the gateway to West Texas."

Salata features fully customizable salads and wraps with ingredients freshly prepared every day and never frozen. There are 70 options for salad inclusions, 11 homemade dressings, and their kitchens offer soups as well. The restaurants also use locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Julie Davis, the Vice President of Franchise Development, has gone to bat for Lubbock to become the gateway for the franchise's expansion into West Texas.

"When I look at Lubbock, it is such a (favorable) area with the college," Davis said. "You guys are growing and affordable for development, so it seems like a great fit. Also, there's a lack of competition. When I hear from folks in Lubbock, they say there's just not enough healthy options."

Davis believes it will be such a great fit, that Salata already hopes to open three to four locations in Lubbock. This could also lead to locations in Amarillo, Midland and Odessa within the next 5 years.

"Realistically, somebody opens in Lubbock, then somebody down the road becomes aware of the brand, and they start to grow outside of Lubbock," Davis said. "Lubbock is the gateway into West Texas."

The ideal franchisee candidate would be someone with "passion for creating the best environment and delivering exceptional guest experiences," Davis said.

Once a franchisee is found, it takes an estimated 6-9 months before the doors open, depending on various factors. People interested in joining Salata as a franchisee can reach visit salata.com/grow-with-us/franchising.
