New Gathering Limits Announced In Colorado

Colorado's Safer at Home public health order has been amended to include a new gatherings limit.

The revised order reduces the size of personal gatherings to 10 people from no more than two separate households.

The amendments apply to all counties that are under all 'Safer at Home' levels, which is the majority of the state. As of Friday, only Moffat, Rio Blanco, Mesa, Gunnison and Gilpin counties were under the 'Protect Our Neighbors' level.

Residents in Denver, Arapahoe, Adams and Boulder counties will be required to follow any stricter orders their counties have issued.

“We are asking all Coloradans to act with an abundance of caution to reverse these worrying trends," said Jill Hunsaker Ryan, executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

"Right now, the virus is spreading when people from multiple households attend gatherings. We need to keep gatherings smaller and with people from fewer households — we are asking everyone to ‘shrink their bubble’ to reduce the spread."

Case investigations have revealed that many Coloradans have relaxed their precautions and are "interacting more closely with a greater number of households," health officials said.

“Please take every effort to reduce contact with members of other households. If you can work remotely, please do so to reduce contact with other individual," Hunsaker Ryan said.

"Taking action now can prevent your loved ones from getting sick, and help us save lives and avoid stricter public health orders in the future.”
