Gayle King, Ryan Murphy and Chrissy Teigen Among Time 100 List for 2019

Time Magazine shared its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world on Wednesday, with CBS News anchor Gayle King, screenwriter Ryan Murphy and model Chrissy Teigen among those being honored.Each honoree was accompanied by a small essay of tribute penned by a notable peer. For King, it was director Ava DuVernay, “American Horror Story” actress Jessica Lange paid tribute to Murphy, while for Teigen, it was Le Bernardin co-owner and master chef Eric Ripert paid tribute.In her tribute, DuVernay lauded King’s ability to enhance her role as a journalist by not taking the spotlight for herself.Also Read: Bernie Sanders on Fox News Is Most-Watched Town Hall of 2019“We’ve spoken of her in an adjacent manner. We’ve regarded her in the context of others. But when you have the heart of Gayle King, that’s not necessarily a negative thing,” DuVernay wrote. “What most don’t understand about Gayle is that this perfected proximity to others is a superpower that the best journalists possess.In her praise of Murphy, Lange described how he had convinced her to sign on to his mega-hit series “American Horror Story.”“He wanted to create a role for me. A character unlike one I had played before. He made wild promises about how successful and well-received it was going to be,” Lange said. “I’d been in this business long enough to take it all with a grain of salt. Yet his enthusiasm was contagious and the following year, once I made my debut in ‘American Horror Story,’ everything he had promised came to pass. She’s not shy about that–or anything else, really. She’s very opinionated, and I love her for it,” Ripert wrote. “But while she might come off as lighthearted, Chrissy’s cooking is truly excellent. She’s a true perfectionist and extremely precise.”Other honorees this year include some familiar names including politicians like President Donald Trump and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, comedian Hasan Minhaj and Attorney General William Barr.
