Gaza cartoonist turns misfortunes into short films

"I wanted to work closely on the issues related to children, especially since in the strip we live in fear and amid a blockade, in pain, children suffer from various problems and issues, so I wanted to tackle these issues by portraying them in scenarios and turn it into cartoon films that are relatable and that can send a message."
Barakat works with different local organizations
and hopes to raise awareness on the issues
people face in the Palestinian territories
She says her last film took
more than a month to finalize
due to challenges she faces living in Gaza
including lack of materials and regular power cuts
