GBI announces the promotion of Zach Johnson to Assistant Special Agent in Charge

Sep. 18—THOMASVILLE- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has announced the promotion of Zach Johnson to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the GBI's Regional Investigative Office in Thomasville. ASAC Johnson will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations and supervision of special agents assigned to the office.

"ASAC Zach Johnson is an outstanding leader and instructor," said GBI Director Chris Hosey. "He will be a great asset as a supervisor in our office in Thomasville."

"ASAC Johnson has led by example at the Region 9 office with hard work and mentorship," said GBI Division Director Cynthia Adkins. "He is a constant professional whose primary goals are to help others and get the job done right. In his new role, he will continue to be an asset for the GBI and the citizens of the State of Georgia."

ASAC Johnson began his career with the GBI in 2015 as a Special Agent assigned to the Regional Investigative Office in Kingsland. ASAC Johnson transferred to the Regional Investigative Office in Thomasville in 2016 and has been there ever since.

ASAC Johnson is a POST certified instructor authorized to teach interview and interrogation tactics at the GBI Special Agent Academy and regional police academies.

ASAC Johnson is the recipient of the 2022 Deputy Director's award for efforts made in a homicide investigation.

ASAC Johnson graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

ASAC Johnson is from Adel, Ga.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of four divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Legal Division. The GBI has over 900 employees and a current budget of $147,482,036.
