GBI: Officer, suspect both shot after man opens fire at Georgia trailer park

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating after an officer shot a man in East Dublin. The officer was also injured.

On Monday, an East Dublin police officer was called to the Ponderosa Trailer Park on Corbett Street in response to a shots fired call.

The officer arrived near Lot 18. According to the release, once the officer got out his car, he was immediately shot by David Jermaine Fountain, 35.

The officer reportedly fired back, hitting Fountain.

Officials say Fountain lives in Lot 18 and was allegedly shooting at mobile homes inside the trailer park before the officer got there.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment and released. Fountain was transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon for further medical treatment.

Fountain is facing charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer and aggravated assault with additional charges pending.

The case will be turned over to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office once the GBI completes its investigation.
