GCU routs Mississippi Valley State, continues fast start to season

Grand Canyon stifled Mississippi Valley State, 91-44, Saturday night, giving the Antelopes their best start of its nine-year Division 1 history.

GCU held MVSU to 29.5 percent shooting, the fourth time they have held an opponent to sub-30% shooting under head coach Bryce Drew. They also hit the boards, maintaining a 57-29 rebounding advantage.

Four players — Jovan Blacksher, Jr., Holland Woods, Taeshon Cherry and Walter Ellis —provided balanced scored, each hitting 11 points for the effort. Sean Miller-Moore added eight points, six rebounds and four assists in support.

GCU will now take their 8-1 record and five-game winning streak crosstown to face struggling Arizona State.
