The Geminids: How to watch 2022′s most active meteor shower light up night skies

Stargazers are in for a particularly dazzling treat with the annual Geminid meteor shower expected to peak late Tuesday night and into the wee hours Wednesday.

During peak activity and perfect weather conditions, the Geminids produce approximately 100-150 meteors per hour for viewing.

However, a waning gibbous moon will make the 2022 viewing harder to see most of the showers, resulting in only 30-40 visible meteors per hour at the peak in the Northern Hemisphere, depending on sky conditions. But the Geminids are so bright that this should still be a good show, NASA reported.

The Geminids shower, which began Dec. 13, will remain active through Dec. 17.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
