The general election is nearing in Lawrence County. Here's what you need to know.
With the Nov. 8 general election fast approaching, Lawrence County residents will soon be able to begin casting their votes in competitive local races, including seats on both the North Lawrence Community Schools and Mitchell Community Schools board and Sheriff.
Early Voting
Early voting will begin on Oct. 12 and will run until election day.

On weekdays, those wishing to cast their ballots early will need to do so at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office Courthouse Plaza, 918 16th St., Bedford between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
On Nov. 7, early voting will close at noon.
There will also be early voting options on two Saturdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Weekend early voting will be hosted at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office Courthouse Plaza and the Mitchell Community Center, located at 101 Tom Green Drive, Mitchell.
Voting on election day
Voting on election day will begin at 6 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m. that night.

Note: A registered Lawrence County resident can vote at any of these locations with a valid ID. It is no longer required that votes be cast in the resident's precinct.
