Genesee Country Village & Museum announces plans for 2024 total solar eclipse festival

Rochester-area residents have a multitude of plans when it comes to next week's total solar eclipse. Many include viewing the spectacle from the comfort of their own yards.

With preparations for the total solar eclipse underway, many places in Rochester will be celebrating the once-in-a-lifetime weekend.

Genesee Country Village & Museum will be joining in on the festivities with a four-day festival packed with live entertainment and historical activities. Guests can get hands-on experience with 19th-Century science, attend live shows and enjoy eclipse-themed food and drinks.

Viewing areas with an unobstructed sightline and free parking will be available on the day of the eclipse. Guests can also rent a historic building in the Village to relax and celebrate throughout the day. All tickets will include safe eclipse viewing glasses and access to programming in the Historic Village, John L. Wehle Gallery and Nature Center.

Looking for a historic village experience?

Guests who want to celebrate together can rent a historic building in the Village, a drive-in/tailgating spot or purchase a ticket to access one of three viewing locations.

At $250 per car, the Drive-In/Tailgating package is a flat rate for any number of people that can fit in the vehicle. Tickets to access a viewing location cost between $110-150 per person, and Historic Village packages start at $2,220 for 12 people.

All tickets will include safe eclipse viewing glasses and access to programming in the Historic Village, John L. Wehle Gallery and Nature Center. Historic Village packages include food and drink, an eclipse swag bag, and access to an eclipse after-party. To book a historic building, contact eclipse2024@gcv.org.
