Gas leak leads to evacuation in part of Gentilly Terrace
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A high-pressure gas leak caused an evacuation at the corner of Mirabeau Avenue and Baccich Street on Monday, Jan. 22.
According to leaders with the New Orleans Fire Department, firefighters responded to a call around 10:24 a.m. about a ruptured gas line that occurred while crews were doing street repairs.

A precautionary evacuation of a one-block radius of the leak was issued by the NOFD Hazardous Materials Unit.
Approximately 17 residents were evacuated. Entergy Gas stopped the leak around 11:41 a.m., and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
No injuries were reported.
