If it feels like some of the most famous people on the planet are friends, you’d definitely be right. George and Amal Clooney hosted Barack and Michelle Obama in Lake Como. The famous quartet of friends were brought together for a charity event. The former president and Oscar-winning actor were photographed exiting a boat on a dock. Both men were dressed in suits and appeared to be heading to an event for The Clooney Foundation for Justice. Amal was seen in a beautiful Gucci gown with orange hues and purple accents at the same venue, which happens to be close to the Clooney’s Italian home. Former First Lady and Becoming author, Michelle Obama, was also seen and photographed by The Daily Mail. The Obama’s eldest daughter, Malia, was also present for the charity dinner.

The Obamas and Clooneys have maintained a very steady, positive relationship, with both couples engaged in a variety of charities and non-profit organizations. Back in 2012, the then-president Obama had this to say of Clooney. “The truth is we got to know each other because of a substantive issue. He is a terrific advocate on behalf of the people of Darfur, and to the people of Sudan who’ve been brutalized for a long time,” the former president told Entertainment Tonight.

He continued, “And so when I was a senator — this was well before I was president — that was an issue that I was working together on a bipartisan basis, and George, who had traveled there, done documentaries there, and was very well-informed, came to testify in Congress. And so we got to know each other, and he is a good man, and a good friend.”

This isn’t the first time the Obamas have brushed shoulders with members of Hollywood. At the recent Grammys, Michelle Obama made an appearance alongside Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez. The former president has also made appearances on a variety of late-night talk shows and hosted entertainers and actors, such as Chris Rock and Idris Elba, during his time in the White House. It is clear, though, that charity and meaningful causes is what brought the Obamas and Clooneys together this weekend.
