George Conway slams President Trump's 'spying' comments, calls him 'Deranged Donald'

WASHINGTON – The feud between President Donald Trump and George Conway, husband to White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, once again flared up on Twitter.

On Thursday morning, Conway retweeted a Washington Post article about the president's claim, without evidence, that the British had assisted American intelligence agencies in "spying" on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. Intelligence agencies from both countries denied the accusation the first time it was brought up two years ago, but Trump resurfaced the claim a day after accepting an invitation for a state visit from Queen Elizabeth II.

In a Twitter thread, Conway slammed the president's comments and began calling the president a new name, writing that, "Deranged Donald is at back at it again. Deranged Donald can do things like this and it’s not even the top of the news, because it gets lost beneath all of the other deranged things Deranged Donald does."

Conway went on to criticize Trump's handling of classified information and intelligence briefings, saying that Trump "has this neat job where he’s supposed to receive and read books with more accurate, highly valuable, top secret information, but he doesn’t like those books unless they have lots of pictures and tell him how great he is."

News outlets have previously reported that Trump has broken with precedent, refusing to read his daily intelligence briefing, the American intelligence community's daily compilation of material about threats around the world.

"We have no evidence that Donald Trump is reading his president's daily brief on the days when he's not getting briefings," David Priess, a former CIA intelligence briefer, told MSNBC in February.

Shortly after Conway posted, Twitter users quickly made #DerangedDonald viral— over 11,000 users had retweeted Conway as of the time of publishing, and #DerangedDonald had become one of the top trending hashtags on Twitter. Progressive Twitter users reacted with glee,

Conway's sniping at the president continues their longstanding feud on Twitter. Conway has become a regular critic of the president, despite his marriage to one of the president's closest advisers.

Trump attacked Conway as a "stone cold LOSER & husband from hell" in a tweet last month. At the beginning of April, Conway wrote that "we have no competent, functioning president." And in November last year, he told Yahoo News that "the administration is like a s***show in a dumpster fire."
