Oct. 10—George R.R. Martin's latest project "Night of the Cooters" will screen at the Santa Fe International Film Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe.

The short film will screen at 8 p.m. and will be followed by a Q&A with Martin, who produced, Vincent D'Onofrio, who directed, and the film's cast.

"We wrapped principal photography on 'Night of the Cooters' back in August, you may recall," Martin said in a statement. "That's our adaptation of the classic short story by the one and only Howard Waldrop. Shot entirely in green screen in Santa Fe, from a screenplay by Joe Lansdale. Directed by Vincent d'Onofrio, who also starred. After that we turned it over to the wizards at Trioscope, who have been busily working on it ever since with their groundbreaking animation process."

D'Onofrio stars as Sheriff Lindley. The cast also features Martin Sensmeier, Hopper Penn, Harrison Page, Luce Rains, Cristin McCleary and Elias Gallegos.

"Night of the Cooters" follows the time when martians invaded Pachuco, Texas in the 1800s.
