George Valera homers, Akron RubberDucks stay hot in win over Binghamton Rumble Ponies

George Valera hit his fifth home run and the RubberDucks won their fifth consecutive game Friday night in Binghamton, N.Y.

Eric Rodriguez doubled and Daniel Schneemann walked to put two runners on in the top of the third inning. Valera then broke the 0-0 tie by launching a three-run homer to right.

Joey Cantillo allowed a one-out single in the first inning, then shut down the Ruble Ponies through four innings. He struck out eight. Jared Janczak followed Cantillo with a scoreless inning of relief in his Ducks debut. His one inning of work earned Janczak the win.

Manuel Alvarez, Kyle Marman and Nic Enright closed out the game for the Ducks with Enright claiming his seventh save of the season with two perfect innings.
