The Georgia Club Foundation Christmas Tour of Homes takes place from noon to 4 p.m. and includes tours of five homes decorated for Christmas and the holidays.

The tour is the first in four years, according to Sally Presnell, a resident of the neighborhood located off Georgia Highway 316 near Statham. The community spreads across Barrow and Oconee counties.

COVID interrupted the last tour which is normally held every two years.

The proceeds benefit The Sparrow’s Nest in Athens and The Oconee Area Resource Council in Watkinsville.

The Sparrow’s Nest provides food, clothing and other supplies for children and families and the homeless. The Resource Center is a nonprofit initiative formed to make improvements for families in need in Oconee County.

The tour showcases homes decorated for the holidays to give guests ideas for decorating, according to tour information. The Holiday Gift Market with more than a dozen vendors will also be open during the tour.

The foundation is a philanthropic arm of the Georgia Club, a country club community established in 2006. The first tour of homes began in 2007 and since then, it has donated more than $1 million to local charities and organizations.

The tour organizers ask that no children under the age of 12 attend.

Tickets are $60 each and can be reached at the Georgiaclubfoundation.com.
