The down ballot races typically reflect the results of the state's top elected office, governor. Brian Kemp, a Republican, won reelection Tuesday, defeating Democratic challenger Stacey Abrams.

Here are the results from Georgia's constitutional officer races.

Burt Jones wins lieutenant governor's race

Republican Burt Jones won the open seat, claiming 51.85% of the vote over Democrat Charlie Bailey, as of 11:15 p.m.

In the lieutenant governor's role, Jones will preside over the Georgia Senate and assume the governorship should the sitting governor become incapacitated, resign or be removed from office by impeachment.

Jones is a Georgia Senate veteran, having served the last 10 years in the chamber. He won despite his involvement as one of the "16 fake electors" gathered by Georgia GOP Chairman David Shafer at the Georgia Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to cast votes for Donald Trump in the hopes that Vice President Mike Pence would throw out the legal electoral college votes for then President-elect Joe Biden.

Jones is from Jackson, located between Atlanta and Macon.

Brad Raffensperger wins secretary of state's post

Brad Raffensperger won reelection as Georgia's top elections official in Tuesday's midterms, claiming a victory over challenger Bee Nguyen. Raffensperger was up by more than 300,000 votes by 11:15 p.m.

Raffensperger, a Republican, gained national notoriety - and scorn in some quarters - for refusing to assist efforts by then-President Donald Trump to overturn Georgia's 2020 presidential election results. His December 2020 tape recorded phone call with Trump, in which the then-president asked Raffensperger to "find votes" that would swing the results in his favor.

Raffensperger defeated a Trump-backed challenger, U.S. Rep. Jody Hice, in the May primary before outlasting Nguyen in the general election. Nguyen, a Georgia House member, was trying to become the first Asian-American Democratic woman to hold a statewide office.

Chris Carr wins attorney general's seat

Chris Carr won a second term as Georgia top law enforcement official in Tuesday's election. The Republican defeated Democrat Jen Jordan, garnering 52.55% of the votes by 11:15 p.m.

In the attorney general's role, Carr serves as the chief legal advisor to the governor and all state agencies, boards and commissions, prosecutes public corruption cases and represents the State of Georgia in civil cases before all courts and in all cases before the United States Supreme Court.

The Insurance and Safety Fire commissioner licenses and regulates insurance companies, investigates potential insurance fraud and conducts fire inspections.

King was the incumbent although this was his first election. He was appointed to the post after 2018 election winner Jim Beck was removed from office following his conviction for wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, and tax fraud.
