Georgia football: Javon Bullard arrested for DUI and other misdemeanor charges

A Georgia football starting defensive back was arrested early Sunday for a DUI charge and six other misdemeanors

Javon Bullard was also charged with failure to maintain lane/improper driving, improper turning, a headlights violation, furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages by persons under 21, not carrying and exhibiting a license on demand and holding/supporting a mobile device with his body, according to the Clarke County Jail online booking report.

The driving under the influence of alcohol charge was for under 21 years of age.

UGA athletics released a statement Sunday afternoon to the Athens Banner-Herald: “We are aware of a recent reported incident involving Javon Bullard. We are limited in what we can say, but the report is disappointing and is not reflective of our standards. In addition to University disciplinary processes, we will address the incident internally according to Athletic Association policies.”

The sophomore from Milledgeville is a starter at the “Star” nickel back position.

He has 7 tackles and a pass breakup this season after making 12 total tackles last season in a reserve role.

Bullard had 3 tackles in Georgia’s 39-22 win Saturday over Kent State.

UGA police arrested Bullard who was booked in jail at 4:57 a.m. and released on bonds totaling $4,250 at 8:30 a.m.

Top-ranked Georgia plays at Missouri Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
