Georgia man sentenced in rape, assault at Ocean City condo

A Georgia man will serve 10 years in prison on assault and rape charges in connection with a December 2021 incident at an Ocean City condominium.

Wayne Eugene White, 46, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, was sentenced earlier this month to serve 20 years in the Division of Corrections for his conviction on the charge of rape in the second degree, to which he pleaded guilty on June 9, 2022.

Worcester County Circuit Court judge Brian D. Shockley suspended all but 10 years of incarceration and placed White on three years of supervised probation upon release, according to release from the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office.

White must also submit a DNA sample and register as a Tier III lifetime sex offender upon his release, the release said.

Police responded to an Ocean City condominium unit on Dec. 3, 2021, to a domestic assault complaint.

Upon arrival, the Ocean City police officers met a woman with blood covering her mouth and chin area and staining her sweatshirt. Investigation revealed the victim had been assaulted and then raped, and she identified Wayne White as her attacker, according to the release.
